Citrus trees

Citrus fruit is often used in chutneys and I'm getting back to the gardening theme.

Re: I Will Never Again...

I will never plant Equisetum hyemele where it has any chance of escaping and taking over my whole yard overnight. I will never believe myself when I tell myself that I will have time to plant it if I just go ahead and buy it. Hire someone to do anything around my garden without first considering jus...

Re: Gay Gardeners In Tallahassee Fla. area???

Dave, Welcome to the site! I understand your desire to find other gay gardeners in your area. I'd really like to find some here in Tennessee. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck. I've seen posts on other sites from a few gay couples in the Atlanta area, but that may be farther than you had in min...

Re: Trees & Shrubs that catch my attention

Great picture and pretty tree.

I believe Greer Gardens currently offers this plant. Too bad it's only hardy to around zone 7 or 8.

Re: Louisiana Iris

I don't know that I have much worth trading right now. We have a big plant swap here locally twice a year, and I think I have pretty much divided the good ones down to just a few fans. I have extra of some common stuff, but I'm not even sure it would be worth the shipping. I'll try to keep you in mi...

Re: Hello from Western Canada

I remember Spike. That was back before Ad Block was required to get onto Gardenweb. Now, they won't even get rid of the SPAMers and flamers (no, not our type). From what I've heard, Spike used to ban masses of people for some reason or other. I never got banned, thankfully. I do know a few people th...

Re: Louisiana Iris

I grow many species of iris including Louisiana varieties (I'm a SIGNA member). They can be grown in areas with afternoon shade, but do need at least a half day of direct sun. I have them planted in pots (that can get pretty dried out, although I do water them every few days) and in minibogs. They a...

Re: Daylily Seedlings 2009

P.S. I'm like you Jayden, I can't stand messy beds. Even a little dead foliage has to go or it bothers me. Many growers seem to get used to their beds looking pretty messy. It distracts too much from the beauty of the flowers to me. Then there's the procrastination side of me that never really feels...

Re: Daylily Seedlings 2009

Cool streaked flower. I haven't seen one exactly like that before. Hope it's offsprings work out well.

I like the DaringDilemmaXEdBrownDoubleEdge as well.

Re: Hello from Western Canada

I've had a few run ins with Gardenweb. Twice I've been "warned". I replied to both emails and asked for an explanation, but none was ever given. I worried much less about the second one than I did the first, and I think I will just ignore any I get in the future. I got the feeling that som...

Re: Hello from Western Canada

Welcome aboard Growin!! Fantastic picture album. I also love talking pics of plants. I was at the National Arboretum in Washington DC years ago with a film camera. I took as many rolls of film as would fit into my camera bag. One day, I'm gonna have to go back and redo it digitally. I've got a very ...

Re: Daylily Seedlings 2009

Jayden, How many daylily plants do you currently have? Looks like you probably have a good variety, even just based on the ones you've posted so far. As for the weeds being shaded out, that doesn't really work. I'm sure it helps compared to having lots of exposed dirt, but I'm constantly finding wee...

Re: Daylily Seedlings 2009

Cool. I wish I had the time and energy to grow a bunch of daylily seedlings. I have friends with acres of daylilies (and weeds). I don't see how they can maintain their plantings as well as they do. If it weren't for the weeds, I'd try to breed the world's next great daylily.
