I Will Never Again...

This is the general gossip area. You can talk about anything here.

I Will Never Again...

Postby kipouros on Wed Oct 14, 2009 6:13 am

I was inspired by a similar thread on a culinary site to post this topic, because I can be just as much of a doofus in the garden as I can in the kitchen...

1) I will never, ever again bring several loads of soil from one area to fill some raised areas in another, and forget to consider that the source garden is infested with arum and lesser bindweed.

2) I will never again yank a runner of bindweed, wisteria or any other invasive vine without first making sure that it hasn't wound around some valuable plant. Sorry, Clematis...

3) I will never again let someone else help me weed my garden and trust that showing them what should be pulled is sufficient. Oh well, I can always replant Nigella.

I will never plant Equisetum hyemele where it has any chance of escaping and taking over my whole yard overnight.

I will never believe myself when I tell myself that I will have time to plant it if I just go ahead and buy it.

Hire someone to do anything around my garden without first considering just how much damage they can do that I hadn't considered.

Limit myself (mostly) to only one (or two) genera.

I will never again assume that all plants can grow in potting soil.

I now use about half fine pine bark to whatever else is in the soil mixture for potting.
